In the past three Mission Impossible
films we have seen Ethan Hunt dangling from a wire, sprinting away from
explosions, jumping off buildings and getting amorous with a lovely
lady.
And judging from the new trailer for Mission: Impossible 4 – Ghost Protocol, fans of the franchise can expect to see Tom Cruise performing more of the same.
In fact, some of the stills taken from the new film look almost identical to scenes seen in previous films.
Cruise,
49, is infamous for performing his own stunts and by now he has plenty
of practice and he has clearly perfected his steely star while pointing a
hand gun.
The latest installment in the espionage franchise sees Hunt and his team abandoned by the US government after a terrorist attack on the Russians, meaning they have to take the blame unless they can find the culprits.
While the newest film has
plenty of old tricks, it also appears to have some impressive new ones,
including seeing Cruise throw himself out of a car at high speed or
scaling the tallest building in the World, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
The action-packed film stars Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton with British actor Simon Pegg also making an appearance.
In an nod to the iconic shot from the
first film, which sees Cruise dangling from a wire a few inches from the
floor, his co-star Renner is seen performing the same stunt in the new
trailer.
Cruise had plenty of support on set while shooting the flick in Vancouver back in January with wife Katie Holmes and daughter Suri on hand to support him.
Katie and her daughter watched on as Tom acted out his impressive stunts and Suri proved to be the centre of attention on set.
Speaking to the Daily Record
about the film Cruise said: 'I want to entertain the audience and part
of making these movies is doing my own stunts.'
While there is no doubt a sense of deja-vu with the latest film, which fans have waited five years for, Cruise was seen flitting across Dubai, Prague, Moscow, Mumbai, and Vancouver while shooting the flick, performing mind-blowing stunts all along the way.
